This show is a perfect example of a slow-burning romance done brilliantly. They get together quickly but they spend their relationship getting to know each other and becoming close friends.
There aren't intense moments of passion or crazy bed scenes. Takara promises Amagi to take things slowly and he stays true to that in a way that doesn't take over the main story. Which is something I personally enjoyed.
Intimacy for these two comes from a place of mutual appreciation for each other and is shown through spending time together.
There are only eight 20min long episodes but the story feels longer, in a good way. Everything is articulated perfectly.
I fell in love with these characters quickly, to the point where I was having big emotional responses with every episode.
They did an amazing job of making you feel the longing and care each of them had for the other. All the while also giving you a clear understanding of how those emotions translate into the miscommunication and struggles they find themselves navigating.
I also have to give the writers major props for how these two come together and talk things out beautifully, time and again. Even if it takes a stretch for them to get over being stubborn first.
I have very rarely found a show to be so perfect from start to finish. I really loved every minute of it and I will be singing its praises for some time to come.
Definitely give this show a chance. You won't regret it.
10/10
I have to go back and rewatch this for the episode commentary.
